Unplug it
Unplug your chargers (PDAs, cell phones, digital cameras, etc.)
when not in use.
Use power strips to switch off television, stereos, etc. when not in use.

Use Computers Efficiently
Enable the “sleep mode” feature on your computer, allowing it to use less power during periods of inactivity.
Configure your computer to “hibernate” automatically after 30 minutes or so of inactivity.
Log off & shut down at the end of the day.

Take Control of the Temperature
During the summer, raise your thermostat to 78 degrees or more.
During the winter, set your thermostat to 68 degrees or less.

Check and Clean Filters
Cleaning and replacing a/c filters often allows the system to run
more efficiently.

Use Appliances Efficiently
Don't preheat or “peek” inside the oven more than necessary.
Wash only full loads in the dishwasher.
Set the appropriate water level for the size of each load in
the clothes washer.
Clean the lint filter in the dryer after each use.

Turn off the Lights
Don't forget to flick the switch when you leave a room.
